Sales Manager - Medical Devices

The Role:

• Under the general direction of the Commercial Director oversees the given business, controlling and managing sales and marketing activities of his/her Business Unit; including deployment of marketing strategies, achieving sales objectives through prioritizing sales activities, pricing negotiation, controlling marketing expenses, leading professional education local strategy and managing the sales team.
• Part of her/his role will also be to prepare the country for the future by anticipating market trends, customer's needs and people development.
• Represent the company in the field through strong relationship with the Swiss KOL
• Prioritize sales & management activities in a competitive environment.
• Develop strategic sales plans for the country and execute them, whilst managing his/her own territory.
• Focus on numerous launches (4 to 6 per year) of new technologies and their market implementation.


• Directly responsible for sales activities in the Swiss-French and Swiss-Italian territories. (40%)
• Select, develop, motivate and manage the performance and the talent of his/her direct team; identifying potential back-ups. Leads and coaches effectively his/her sales team in their activities and projects, establishing targets, incentive plans & action plans. Coaching them on the field to better manage customer calls/interactions. (20%)
• Implements sales, marketing & professional education global plans and division initiatives, adapting general guidelines to local conditions. Actively participates on the design of projects and objectives for the Division ensuring the implementation at country level. (10%)
• Responsible for the Division P&L Planning and achievement according to assigned budged and objectives (sales gross profit & expenses target). Responsible for establishing and submitting budget and forecasts for this division (5%)
• Maintains and initiates productive relationships with KOL, Medical Societies and healthcare authorities (5%).
• Member of the Country management team, assures an easy communication between the Division and other Departments of the Company (5%)
• Member of the extended leadership team for the business, share best practices and initiatives among the rest of the organization (5%)
• Negotiate special offers with key customers and support sales reps in price negotiations or complex customer issues if necessary. Responsible for local roll-out of the pricing strategy following corporate guidelines (5%)
• Coordinates and consolidates the collection of market data to analyze country market (customer needs, trends & competitors) in order to better identify business opportunities with existing or potential customers (5%)


• University degree required: Bio-sciences degree highly preferred (with an MBA a plus)
• At least 5 years of sales & management experience in medical device field is required
• Deep knowledge of the hemodynamic market and Swiss KOLs highly preferred
• Willingness to travel more than 50% of the time
• Experience in sales & marketing in medical device industry including commercial management experience (People & P&L responsibilities)
