Scientific Associate II (m/f, 100%, 3 year contract)

Your challenges

You will be part of a laboratory with a specific focus in the field of immunotherapy in oncology.

Your main goals of the job will be to establish in vitro assays to profile antibody
candidates generated elsewhere by different technologies such as hybridoma and phage display, and to validate them in the field of cancer immunotherapy.

The main experimental tasks will be:
  • Conducting ex vivo experiments in particular using different immune cell types, such as CD4, CD8 and NK cells, isolated either from human peripheral blood or from animal
lymphoid tissues (proliferation assays, suppression assays, analysis of cytokines production)
  • Establishment of in vitro co-culture assayswith human tumor cells and immune cells
  • Development and execution of cell-based assays to better characterize biologics targeting immune system
  • Characterization of immune phenotype (imaging, FACS, gene profiling) and cellular
activation (cytokines production) of different cell types
  • Active contribution to lab and team projects, having tangible impact on the science and drug discovery e.g. presentations at lab and project team level, discussion of literature data and contribution to internal/external scientific meetings
  • Independent planning and execution of experiments in a timely manner, pro-active
data analysis and results interpretation
  • Comprehensive work documentation in lab journal, relevant data bases and reports
  • Efficient management and maintenance of a functional laboratory, technical equipment and tools, as required for best practice and in-line with guidelines
  • Close collaboration with multiple teams and stakeholders in within the company and in collaboration with academic institutions

Your skills

Your profile will match if your strengths include critical and objective interpretation of results and scientific information. You should also have good organizational and team skills.
  • PhD or equivalent education in (Bio-) Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or a related discipline
  • 1 to 2 years of working experience
  • Broad scientific or technical knowledge and laboratory techniques
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of relevant pharma industry policies and procedures
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Proficient in MS Office
